2008 CPUHS1972 Global Reunion Schedule of Activities

June 28, 2008 - Saturday

Day of arrival for most classmates.....Most of the classmates will fly in through the SEA/TAC airport at Seattle, Washington. A large van will be used to drive everyone to Mission, BC. Hotel check-in then proceed to Charito's residence. The whole day activity will be at Charito's place. Registration, getting to know the families, exchanging stories, etc....and enjoying a sumptuous homecooked Ilonggo dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

June 29,2008 - Sunday
Leave at  8A.M.
To Grouse Mountain....Panoramic views across the city, sea and surrounding mountain peaks...trail hike to see blackbears...pls. refer to www.grousemountain.com for other activities
Have lunch up there...we can bring sandwiches, fruits and cheeses and beverages.

Then to  Capilano Hanging Bridge - where we can be suspended in disbelief as we sway across the gaping canyon and experience the tree top adventure.

After that to the Salmon Hatchery...to learn about the life cycle of salmons and see them jump over the man made stairs or obstacles to reach their hatching areas..

Back to Mission and hotel for a much needed rest after all the exercise.
Dinner with a short devotions.

June 30, 2008 - Monday
Leave at 8A.M.

Go to Chinatown/Gastown/Stanley park/Robson St/Steveston Wharf, Richmond/and White Rock.

In Chinatown we can buy siopao..Lanzones/Pancit/BBQ chicken or Soy chicken and or BBQ pork which we will eat in Stanley Park. We will bring disposable plates and utensils.
Some shopping may be done in these places.

July 1, 2008 - Tuesday
Leave at 7A.M.

To Whistler we will go...
Stop by Shannon Falls on the way...one of the highest falls in Canada
In Whistler we can explore the European Style Village---cobblestoned-pedestrian only streets with 200 shops and boutiques to browse...
Ride the ski lift to the top of the mountain for a spectacular view of the Village and surrounding mountains and have a short hike up there....
Lunch will be on your own....lots of restaurants to pick from...
Here in Whistler....families could go on their own...or be with a group....but this is free time to enjoy as they deem fit to do so...
Leave at 3-or 4P.M.
Dinner may be on the way back to Mission or have it in Some restaurant in Mission.
We will check out of the hotel in Mission very early the next day and have our luggages on storage since we will be staying for 2 nights at a hotel in Vancouver island.

July 2,2008 -  Wednesday
Off to the Capital City....Victoria...in Vancouver Island. We will be staying overnight in Vancouver Island
Leave early....7 or 8 A.M.....for the ferry ride to Victoria...Butchart Gardens open at 9A.M.
Please refer to www.tourismvictoria.com/about victoria....for details of the attraction sites....
We can have breakfast at the ferry...kanya -kanya...then go immediately to Butchart Gardens.....spend 2 hours there. Some of the men can go directly to their fishing adventure...have lunch there again with sandwiches...etc...
Then proceed to the hotel and sightseeing in and around the harbour area to our hearts content...again this is free time to spend as we want...till midnight or the wee hours....
Dinner ..on their own ... so many restaurants just around and every corner in that harbour area...

July 3, 2008 - Thursday
Denman and Hornby Islands here we come....We will check out from the hotel inVictoria Island and move on to another hotel in Denman and Hornby Islands so we leave early again....if we are after the low tide...to pick oysters and do clamming at Fillongley Provicial Park, Denman...have hot dogs , BBQ and oysters right there in the camp ground area...by the beach...
after that we ride the ferry to Hornby...a ten minute ride....then go for a 1-1/2 trail walk in Halliwell Proincial Park..5 km walk circles the park...  where we might see some bald eagle and cormorants...see some sea lions and see spectacular bluffs...for the faint-hearted...they can just sit or enjoy the swim at Tribune Bay Prov.Park...then to the hotel....for a well-earned R and R......
Dinner - open . We will check out early the next day to catch the ferry back to the mainland.

July 4, 2008 - Friday
Take the ferry back to the mainland....and Mission to cook our clams and oysters....some more eating and kata-kata till we all
drop.....This is the last day to be together and fellowship. We will go back to Charito's residence and spend the whole day there to cool down from the site seeing and running around. We will have our lunch business meeting (election of officers,future plans and projects) and dinner closing program. Then continue our kata-kata until we are ready to say goodbye to each other and to look forward to the next global reunion in two years.

July 5, 2008 - Saturday
Departure day. A van will ferry most of us that are going to fly out of SEA/TAC Airport in Seattle, Washington. Some may be flying out of Vancouver Airport.
