    Re: ILOILO UPDATES/HAPPENINGS

ILOILO is in festive mode. Today, Sunday, is ultimate day of DINAGYANG Festival, 2006 Best Tourism Event. Ati-ati tribe competition highlights the week long celebrations. As early as Monday, visitors, foreign and local, already flocked the city in anticipation of "Viva Senor Sto. Nino" festival. Downtown, specially Freedom Grandstand, is closed to vehicular traffic. The Mardi Gras Parade winds down major thoroughfares stopping at judging sites for each tribe to do their thing.

Some of us have vivid recollection of the past festivals. Over the years, it had become bigger and more glamorous. In fact, some quarters said it had become more commercialized. But the thing is, Dinagyang brings in people who spends money thus making a significant economic impact to the city. Locals benefit and visitors enjoy.Tani, in the future, we can have a Dinagyang gathering.

We are back home in Santa Barbara, CA. Having an extended stay in Iloilo, we may have to re-adjust to US life. Though much warmer than what you currently have out there in the East, still it is a little chilly for me and Emily.

Look forward to seeing you guys in BC June-July....

Nakastoryahanay (tru text) kami ni Rex Decongolon (practicing MD sa Gensan). Hambal niya makadto sila di sa 1st week Dec, sa Seattle, WA. Told him nga ara to si Sammy U, nga hardcore Pacquiao fan. Siling ko tawgan ya si Sammy didto. Maayo na kay maka compare notes sila re Pacman who is also from Gensan. Invited him to drop by Santa Barbara area, di sa amon ni Joshua, on his way home, kay port of exit niya is LA. Sked permitting, nali pwede pa maka get together with other LA classmates. He said he'll call when he's here.

As with last year, Klasmit Ramon Sodusta prepared a sumptous feast Dec 4 Sta. Barbara Fiesta. Classmates who were there to share good food and fellowship were: Agustin Jamorin, Ramon Gaje, Rey Jimenea, Aida Bacabac, Victoria, Thelma, Diocades and Teresa Octavio. Am sure everybody had lots of fun and full stomach. Incidentally, the Sta. Barbaranhons of California will have their version of town fiesta today in Poway, near San Diego. Unable to go this time as both Del and Emily are working.
