Election of Class organization officers for 2008-2010

Just some thoughts on our ongoing e-mail elections - for the US group only. Please consider these thoughtfully as you vote:

    1. The more officers there are, the harder it is for the president to coordinate  - it gets more difficult when there are more people to contact before a decision is made and an announcement put out - My opinion is that at this time all we need is ONE secretary. We do blanket e-mails anyway, so one person could do that easily - Just imagine having three secretaries who have to talk to each other and the president and the other officers before disseminating information. It is just a harder process.

     2. I do not think we need a PRO/Auditor at this time - In the future as the class organization membership grows or as our goals become more sophisticated, we may need one. For the next two years, I do not see what the PRO/Auditor is supposed to do that the other officers could not do.

    3. Please be active in our class organization. I understand that several people have declined the nominations for personal reasons - we do not have a large membership and people will have to rotate through these positions - so I encourage you to offer your skills and talents. A two year term goes quickly.

    4. Please make sure your vote is counted!

I agree with Irma. With our relatively small organization, we do not need that many officers. As with my previous experience with organizations such as Rotary International, etc., a long list of officers, most of the time, lends to bureaucracy adversely affecting the decision making process. Additionally, we do not have have a lot of activities/projects going on which would require a lot of hands to administer. For me, our current roster of officer is sufficient to manage our class organization.

Some thoughts on a clear sunny beautiful Sunday...

     1.  Just a reminder for those who have not yet voted - please e-mail Miriam back and indicate the people and the choices you are voting for.  We would like to finalize the new roster of officers for 2008-2010 by the time of the Vancouver reunion which starts in 6 days (June 28).

    2. Let us keep our families and friends in Iloilo City in our prayers. As you know there is flooding in the Philippines but particularly in Iloilo City where reportedly a dam ( or two) broke  - the flash flooding caught a lot of people by surprise. I am told there was up to 5 feet of water at CPU campus. Hopefully there will not be a rash of post-flood health problems and illnesses. I am sure we will be hearing from our Iloilo counterparts as soon as electrical power is turned back on and people are able to find time to get back online. Right now, just dealing with the flood, staying safe, surviving  and trying to avoid floodborne illness are more immediate concerns for the folks in Iloilo City.
